Meet Skylor S., Our 2026 Allied Health Hero

Allied Health Week is an opportunity to celebrate the professionals whose skills, dedication, and expertise make an impact across healthcare every day.

This year, we invited our allied healthcare professionals to share their career journeys, the experiences that have shaped them, and what they love most about their work.

We’re proud to recognize Skylor S., CT Technologist, as our 2026 Allied Health Hero.

With 13 years in allied health, Skylor’s journey has been shaped by persistence, continuous learning, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.

Finding His Path in Radiology

Skylor’s interest in radiology began long before his professional career.

When Skylor was 12, his older brother started a radiology program. Hearing his brother talk about classes and learning how X-rays worked sparked an interest that eventually inspired Skylor to pursue the same field.

After graduating from radiology school, however, beginning his career proved much more difficult than expected.

Skylor spent nearly two years trying to find his first opportunity. The experience became challenging enough that he considered changing careers entirely.

Eventually, Skylor secured a per diem position at a small hospital. Another opportunity followed at a different hospital, where Skylor was cross-trained in CT.

That opportunity changed the direction of his career.

Skylor discovered how much he enjoyed CT, and the additional training eventually put him on the path to becoming a traveling CT Technologist.

Working Toward One Common Purpose

One of the things Skylor values most about allied healthcare is the opportunity to work alongside professionals across many different areas of healthcare.

Despite their different responsibilities and specialties, Skylor sees one common purpose bringing healthcare teams together: helping people.

That sense of teamwork has remained an important part of his experience throughout 13 years in the profession.

His own career is also an example of how one new skill or opportunity can open an entirely different path. What began in radiology evolved through cross-training into CT and ultimately into a travel healthcare career.

Never Stop Learning

When asked what advice he would give someone entering the profession, Skylor returned to one of the themes that has defined his own journey: keep learning.

Technology continues to change, and so do the skills required of healthcare professionals. Skylor encourages other technologists not to turn down opportunities to learn something new, whether that means gaining experience with new equipment, software, technology, or processes.

The more knowledge professionals develop, Skylor believes, the more accomplished they can feel in their work while also expanding the skills they can bring to future opportunities.

His own experience proves the point. An opportunity to cross-train in CT ultimately helped shape the career Skylor has today.

Skylor’s story is a reminder that a career does not always follow a straight path.

From struggling to find that first opportunity after graduation to discovering CT and building a 13-year career in allied healthcare, Skylor continued moving forward, learning, and taking advantage of opportunities to grow.
