Deborah Hannon

Allied Recruiter

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I love helping the people who help other people in the midst of both the most stressful and the most joyous moments of life that take place in hospitals!

What do you do for travelers that you feel is completely unique to you?

I consider my recruitment style to be holistic- I build long-lasting relationships with my travelers that go past me just being their recruiter, but to being their friend! Or even being a big sister that helps them figure out what to do next with their lives. In all ways I consider their mind, body, and spirit when searching for the next contract with them. Team work makes the dream work!

What is your favorite thing about working with travelers?

Seeing the excitement and satisfaction on a traveler's face or in their voice when they show up at that new assignment in that new city and find that it really is as awesome as we knew that it would be!

What is your most valuable advice for the travelers you work with?

Be willing to consider flexibility with your criteria in submitting to assignments. I'm always hunting for that unicorn job, but we don't always get what we want, so prioritize for the most important things and leave wiggle room for the less important things.

Why are you passionate about this industry?

The health care professionals that I've placed have literally saved lives in places that are desperate for quality health care professionals. I may not be getting my hands dirty along with my HCPs on the floor of a hospital, but there's nothing more satisfying than getting to be a part of that process by getting good people into those facilities!

Where did you grow up?

Born in New Jersey, raised in Cincinnati, with just a dash of New England during the summers to give me just enough attitude and a love for sharks and lobster rolls. Or maybe lobsters and shark rolls?

What are your favorite places to travel?

My family loves to go to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and spend most of our trips there trying to figure out which restaurant really does have the world's greatest pancakes.

What's on your travel wishlist

Some day I'd love to get to the United Kingdom to see all of the places where the stuff in Doctor Who didn't happen. Because it's a TV show and not real life. But a girl can pretend!

Tell us about your family or pets

My husband and I have been married for over 20 years (we started young), we're blessed with four great kids (they keep us young), and we have a 17 pound miniature Schnauzer (who eats anything old or young).

What's your favorite food?

Lasagna. Next question.

What is your favorite pump-up song?

The theme song from Rocky gives me the motivation that I need to run up the one flight of stairs in my office and jump up and down with my arms raised in the air in victory!

What's your all-time favorite hobby?

I have a black belt in Kajukenbo, an American martial art, and spend a few nights each week teaching little kids how to kick things, grapple, and escape from bad guys. I like to think of myself as the Chuck Norris of the healthcare recruiting world! There could probably be a few jokes about that?
