What do you enjoy most about your work?
Building long-term relationships with nurses! Whether you're just starting to explore the world of travel nursing or you've traveled across the whole country multiple times, I love discussing this industry I'm passionate about!
What do you do for travelers that you feel is completely unique to you?
I get to know my travelers on a deeper level so I can place them in positions that are best suited for their personal lives and their career goals. I consider myself a holistic recruiter, meaning I take into account a travel nurse's mind, body, and spirit when I'm assisting them with career consulting. It's not just another job- it's your life!
What is your favorite thing about working with travelers?
I love the nuance of it; discussing the skillset of the travel nurse and then digging into prospective jobs to see where the best fit for that nurse would be. Recruiting is a lot like solving a complex puzzle- the right nurse for the right job!
What is your most valuable advice for the travelers you work with?
Think of this relationship as a team- commit to the process and be willing to see it through with your teammate. Travel nursing is so much more satisfying that way!
Why are you passionate about this industry?
I am convinced that recruiting nurses for travel is how I demonstrate my belief in a nurse's worth. Healthcare needs excellent professionals willing to uproot themselves and move to different parts of the country, many times without a network there to support them during those months away. I believe my role as a recruiter is to come alongside the healthcare professional and be their "person"- their assistant, their sounding board, their shoulder to cry on, and their biggest cheerleader!
Where did you grow up?
I was born in New Jersey and moved to Cincinnati when I was 7, and I've been here ever since! A few things I love about southwest Ohio are the people- it's totally normal to chat up the person waiting in line behind you, assist someone with directions who looks lost, and offer up a completely unsolicited recommendation of your favorite coffee spot (FYI it's Coffee Peddlar in Harrison, OH)!
What are your favorite places to travel?
We took some exciting road trips the past few years- last summer we drove to Glacier National Park in Montana, and this summer we drove to Cape Cod, Mass. While both of those trips were thrilling our favorite places to go are Ponce Inlet, FL and Gatlinburg TN.
What's on your travel wishlist
I'd love to take the kids on one more road trip before they begin flying the nest! Maybe Nevada is in the cards...?
Tell us about your family or pets
Jason and I have been married for over 20 years (childhood sweethearts!) and we have 4 teenagers- Judah, Emaline, Conner, and Patrick. We also have a miniature schnauzer named Darcy who keeps us on our toes!
What's your favorite food?
Lasagna and I'm fairly certain I could never get tired of it!
What is your favorite pump-up song?
If I need to get hyped you might find me listening to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai (think Napoleon Dynamite- my favorite movie).
What's your all-time favorite hobby?
Sleeping! Seriously though when I'm not sleeping, working, or parenting you'll probably find me reading something written before 1970. Love me some Jane Austen!
